Damon Willer
(Seaford Principal)

Damon has a passion for both performing in the theatre and working with children. He has been involved in 50 full-scale productions and is currently training to be a primary school teacher at the University of Brighton, so Trapdoor is the perfect combination of what he loves to do!

Damon started performing at the age of six at a local drama school. By eleven years old, he was asked to perform with ‘Newpalm Productions’ for their six-week summer season of ‘Me and My Girl’. Following this, Damon studied at Seaford Head Community College, where he played Professor Higgins in ‘My Fair Lady’, The King of Siam in ‘The King and I’ and his favourite role to date, P.T Barnum in ‘Barnum’ – a role which required various amounts of circus skills, including walking the tightrope!

Damon has also been performing with The Rattonians for eight years and owes many thanks to the production team for their continued support and fantastic training. His favourite Rattonian productions include ‘Copacabana’ at the Wimbledon Theatre, playing Enjolras in ‘Les Miserables’, Diesel in ‘West Side Story’, Ramon Garcia in the premiere production of ‘Fame Forever’ and most recently, Scott in ‘The Producers’.

As a primary teacher trainee, Damon has co-directed and choreographed ‘Grease’, ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Oliver!’, ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Scrooge’, ‘Panto Pandemonium’ and ‘West Side Story’ for Chyngton Primary School in Seaford, therefore having plenty of experience of working with children in the performing arts!

In 2007, Damon auditioned for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ with BBC One’s ‘Any Dream Will Do’, and managed to get two recall auditions before being told his voice was too deep, and he was too tall for the role, but to “pursue a career in musical theatre”. So here he is!
