'Trapdoor' began originally many years ago. With the help of a grant from the princes trust Debbie was able to fund her own theatre company which ran for 5 years.
The group encouraged youngsters of all ages and from all backgrounds to become involved in local theatre. All the members were not only performers, but helped with advertising, costuming and building the set. 'The trapdoor theatre company' produced many shows, including
'The Boyfriend'
'Grease'
'The Pajama Game'
'The Wiz'
'Little Shop of Horrors'
And
'Snoopy'
After a break from running the group Debbie decided that there was a need for an affordable local theatre school where children from Eastbourne and the surrounding area could come and learn about all aspects of modern theatre.
The group started in 2006 when a three day drama dance and music workshop was run for 20 local youngsters, culminating in a showcase performance for parents. The two Saturday groups have been running since then and we have just started "teeny trapdoor" for a younger age group.
